Foreword

It is our great pleasure to announce that the 32nd International Conference on Plastic Optical Fibers (POF 2024) will be held from November 11th through 13th at TOGO-KINENKAN and Keio University Mita Campus, Tokyo, Japan. The conference will focus on the latest development of POF technologies and a variety of POF related applications covering data communications, sensors, automotive, medical applications, etc.

As the spread of generative AI, cloud computing, IoT devices, VR/AR, demand for higher speed and more stable data communications has accelerated the development of optical network technology in recent years. On the other hand, it is also true that there have been problems in energy, cost, heat, environment, etc. that come along with the advancement of technologies. Natural disasters due to the climate change caused by the global warming is also a serious issue.

Under these circumstances, POF is the key material that has many possibilities to solve these problems and contribute to improving our lives owing to its unique properties. POF’s intrinsic characteristics are; flexibility, high-speed performance, optical property, sensing property, low cost, etc. In the POF conferences, there have been so many excellent presentations with new findings and cutting-edge technologies developed based on these properties.
We are very excited to meet you at POF 2024 that will take place in the center of Tokyo this time in the best season of autumn leaves, and look forward to share and learn state-of-the-art proposals and findings with you.
